Melissa was my first call in a situation we had given every chance to, but one that seemingly continued to sadden and disappoint us. Ms. Amster not only made me realize I had even more legal rights than I knew, but made us feel secure and not alone. She explained everything in clear detail and listened like no on else had before her.. She also responded to phone calls and emails as quickly as possible. She is everything you will want and need in a special education attorney and that is a rare find. I would and will recommend her highly to anyone who wants a caring and extremely knowledgeable attorney on their side.
Ms. Amster is fantastic!
Ms. Amster gave me wonderful advice as to how best to proceed with my local Regional Center when my daughter was granted speech therapy services. She is attentive, patient, extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. I will continue to consult Ms. Amster and highly recommend working with her. The best!
Melissa helped us navigate through the legal system with our three year old daughter and the school district. We were able to get everything we want for our daughter, who required special needs, thanks to Melissa's expert legal services. I highly recommend her service.
Melissa was extremely helpful when I was trying to get home nursing for my son and again when I was filing for IHSS Protective Services. She found pertinent information that was easy to understand (not a bunch of lawyer jargon) that helped me to build my case. Melissa was a good listener and made me feel comfortable when talking with her about our case. She was a true blessing to my family and me. I would absolutely use her again and recommend her to friends and family.
Good, Practical Analysis
Twice I needed advice regarding Regional Center and obtaining therapeutic interventions for my baby. Ms. Amster provided sound, practical advice, based both in law and real-life experience. She was responsive to my needs and helpful.
Melissa is amazing! She coached me on what to say for my sons IEP and got him what we needed and wanted. She responds quickly to emails and took the time to listen to all of my concerns. Such a blessing!
Due Process Success
I am awed with the integrity and passion that Ms. Amster has in her work! She is without a question dedicated to helping parents obtain whatever special education services their kids need. I came to her full of anxiety about the situation my child was in at his school. She immediately calmed my fears and laid out an action plan. Before I knew it, we were victorious in our due process against the school district. I can't thank her enough!
A light in the dark
I had just been served with a letter that I was being taken to due process for an evaluation my IEP team agreed we should be given. My husband and I had been given the wrong information telling us there would be no difference between having an IEE or another District evaluation. With the unpredictability of District evaluations we opted for the IEE, only to find myself now being told I would have to attend a mediation and withstand the process up to a hearing. I was lost and frustrated. There was no number to call to ask for an explanation. I would have to spend my time preparing, not even knowing what I was preparing. Then Melissa stepped up to help me. What was refreshing is her honesty with me telling and her confidence that I had all that I needed to go to that meeting. She explained to me all the details I needed. She was sympathetic and encouraging. Most of us know that having an attorney at your table usually changes an outcome. Melissa told me I had what I needed for the mediation, gaining my trust. If things went on to a hearing then I would have hired her in a heartbeat. She made herself available to me while I was in the process of mediation answering my questions. I would have been lost without her help. I am thankful for her generosity with her time and knowledge. She followed up by guiding me to other areas where I could find information and educate myself. This is a rarity in my experience. Again, I feel fortunate to have made her acquaintance. I hope I do not need a lawyer anytime soon. I pray my sons journey is filled with honest people who want to help him reach his full potential and give him everything that by law he is entitled. If that is not the case and I find myself needing the expertise of a lawyer, she is the one I will call.
Real amazing Lawyer
She really cares about you and your family and tries to get you the best hope that you can get. She is really well-versed in the subjects I knew a lot about our daughter's condition and what type of help we could get. Thank you Melissa
Melissa helped guide me through an appeal with the regional center to make sure my child was getting the services he needed. Though she did not formally represent us, she gave me the advice I needed and pointed me toward useful resources that helped us win our appeal.
My child was not getting the help or accommodations he needed. I tried tirelessly to get him the help but nothing seemed to be working and I felt defeated and at a dead end. Mrs. Amster was so kind and provided advice and was so helpful. Feeling alone trying to advocate for my child was very difficult and with her help I felt hope and she was very reassuring. She represented us and her help provided the means of escape from a difficult situation like a lifeline. In addition to this, we were finally able to get somewhere and obtain help for my child. Mrs. Amster is wonderful and very knowledgeable and without her help we would not have gotten anywhere. I highly recommend her.
Extremely helpful advice
We've had a couple of issues stemming with services for our disabled son, and Melissa's advice not only put us at ease, but helped us to gain the upper hand in a hearing, in which we prevailed in all aspects. We are thankful for her help and admire her comprehensive understanding of government services for disabled children.
